Teresa Giudice is facing criticism online after sharing a glamorous Instagram post just days after news broke that she and husband Luis Ruelas were hit with major tax liens totaling nearly $3 million.
In a March 24 Instagram post, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star, 52, struck a pose in a designer T-shirt listing luxury fashion houses like Hermès, Chanel, Dior, and Saint Laurent. “New week, fresh goals, unstoppable energy! Let’s make this Monday the start of something amazing,” Teresa wrote in the caption.
But fans quickly took issue with the timing of the post, given that Teresa and Luis, 50, were recently hit with tax liens—hers for $303,889.20 and his for a staggering $2,569,842.06. “Teresa is so tone deaf,” one follower commented.
Another added, “She’s worried about Chanel, not the IRS.” One fan even claimed, “Teresa is very ignorant. Worried about the wrong thing.”
Critics were quick to bring up Teresa’s financial history, pointing to her previous legal troubles and time served in prison for fraud. Many also questioned her financial decisions within her current marriage, especially her choice to forgo a prenuptial agreement with Luis Ruelas ahead of their lavish 2022 wedding.
“She didn’t make Luis write a prenup and now look,” one Instagram user commented. Another echoed the sentiment, writing, “You’d think after everything she’s been through, she’d protect herself this time.”
Others warned that the mounting debt could lead to even more serious consequences if left unaddressed.
The tax lien headlines come amid other financial challenges for the couple. Teresa previously owed over $600,000 in back taxes in 2023.
Meanwhile, Luis has been tied to a string of business issues, including a $1 million loan on their New Jersey mansion and a company he co-founded, Vinivia, filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after reportedly failing to pay a $300,000 debt to a party planner.
