Teddi Mellencamp BREAKS DOWN as Staples Are Removed Post-Brain Surgery – Faces a ‘Long, Tough Road’ Ahead!
Teddi Mellencamp is keeping fans updated on her recovery journey following emergency brain surgery earlier this month. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 43, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share that her staples had been removed and that doctors successfully removed more tumors than originally expected during the procedure.
In a video posted to her Instagram Story, Teddi was seen sitting in a hospital chair surrounded by nurses as they removed the staples from her head. Applause broke out in the room, and a scar was visible on the back of her head. “Good job, Teddi,” voices could be heard saying, as the reality star completed another major step in her recovery. Later, Teddi posted a heartfelt message on her main Instagram page, expressing gratitude for her medical team and loved ones.
“I am so grateful for the incredible surgeons, doctors, and nurses who made my surgery a success and my recovery process comfortable,” she wrote. “In full transparency, more tumors were removed than expected: [Four] in total. This fight is not over, but that round has been won.”
Teddi, who first revealed her diagnosis earlier this month, has been open about her battle with melanoma over the past two years. While she remains optimistic, a source told In Touch Weekly that her recovery won’t be easy. “The surgery went well, but she still has a long, tough road ahead of her,” the insider shared. Despite the challenges, Teddi said she is leaning on her family and friends for support as she continues treatment.
“The laughter, support, and patience of my kids, my family, and my closest friends is one gift with which words cannot properly express my gratitude,” she wrote.
“As I move on to the next steps in my treatment, I just wanted to say thank you to everybody for the outpouring of love and prayers. I see them, and they’re definitely helping me stay strong.”
Teddi’s health battle has also put her personal life on hold. The Bravo star, who shares three children with husband Edwin Arroyave, filed for divorce in January, but recent reports suggest the two are pausing their split while she recovers.
“All the Housewives called [Teddi] and sent flowers and let her know they’re praying for her,” the insider added, noting that her RHOBH family has rallied around her during this difficult time.
While Teddi’s journey is far from over, she remains focused on her health and healing.
“I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses[,] and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health,” she said. “Thank you to everybody who has reached out and to everyone who has supported me along this journey.”
