RECAP: ‘Sister Wives’ Meri Brown AIRS OUT Robyn for Ghosting Her for Months — “Why Pretend to Be My Friend”
In the Sister Wives episode that aired Sunday, April 20th, Janelle Brown relocates from Flagstaff to North Carolina, with Christine Brown by her side. And Janelle finally visits the property she bought without seeing it first. Meanwhile, Meri Brown begins to reevaluate her bond with Robyn Brown, and Kody Brown gets ready to baptize Aurora into a different church.
Meri Brown Reveals Robyn Vanished from Her Life for “Months and Months”
Meri Brown didn’t just want a husband — she craved the entire family dynamic. But in the end, she felt abandoned on all sides.
Back when the Browns first moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, Meri was still spiritually tied to Kody and shared a strong connection with his fourth wife, Robyn.
Reflecting on those early days in the April 20 episode of Sister Wives, Meri shared, “I had that cute little playground.” Robyn, at the time, had even mentioned bringing her younger kids over to enjoy the space.
“I was really looking forward to it,” Meri said. “And that happened very rarely before COVID even hit.”
Isolation Sets In
Even during the pandemic, Meri took all the necessary precautions and hoped the visits could continue outdoors. “I had plenty of outdoor space,” she pointed out. “I took all the precautions.”
Still, she found herself excluded from Robyn and Kody’s household bubble.
Meanwhile, Robyn remembered those days differently. “I had five kids constantly home,” she said. “We were doing online school. And, you know, after the first year or so, she was traveling some. And so we really struggled to sort of get our schedules lined up. But I know we both wished we had been able to see each other more.”
“Why Tell Me… and Then Ghost Me?”
For Meri, the distancing felt intentional. “I had this bond with her,” she recalled. “And I’m now questioning, ‘Why tell me that you want to have a relationship with me and then ghost me for months and months and months? Why, when COVID is happening and I’m following all the rules, do I not get to go over to your house and to your kids? Why do you not want to come over to my house for the kids to play outside in the yard?’”
Her best friend, Jenn, didn’t mince words: “She’d act like she was your best friend and then completely ignore you and hurt your feelings. Like, that’s really f–ked up. Either be an a–hole or don’t.”
Robyn Says She Tried
Robyn, however, claimed she always had Meri’s back: “I always had Meri’s back, even when people were plotting against her, ignoring her,” she said. “And I never felt a divide other than when she moved. That was when things changed. She changed it after that.”
Once Meri relocated to Utah, Robyn claimed she reached out: “Soon after Meri moved, I reached out to her and I said, ‘The next time you’re in town, let’s hang out, let’s go do something.’ And she very directly said, ‘I don’t know how to be friends with my ex-husband’s wife.’ And that was really hard for me.”
Meri’s Honest Take
Meri didn’t deny it. “At that point I did not know how to be a friend with my ex-husband’s wife,” she admitted. “And I think that there are a lot of conversations that we would have to have before we did that.”
But trust wouldn’t be easy to rebuild. “I’m not convinced that she would be fully honest with me,” she added, “and I’m not convinced that the things I would say to her, she would be very happy with.”
Still, Meri’s not ruling out a future reconciliation. “Part of me does kind of grieve the relationship that we had because she was a good friend, or at least I thought she was,” she reflected. “But then other stuff, you know, through the years since then makes me just like, ‘But were we though?’ Like, ’cause if we were, we should have been able to stick it out.’”
“It Would Have to Take a Lot”
“I’m not saying that there couldn’t be trust built,” Meri said. “It would have to take a lot of hard conversations.”
Robyn also had her doubts. “I heard that she was bashing me and making fun of me to her friends in public and I was very hurt by this,” she revealed. “I don’t think she wants a relationship. So I don’t know. I guess I just have to deal with that.”
Meri isn’t ready to close the chapter. “I get that she probably feels a lot of grief and pain about this demise of our relationship,” she said. “I feel that too. There is a lot of anger and pain and grief involved in it.”
Still, she holds onto a sliver of hope: “If we could get to a place where we can just interact without it being weird, that would be awesome. That’s what I hope for.”
Kody Gave Meri False Hope
Back in 2018, Kody told Meri that their move to Flagstaff could be a fresh start. “Oh Meri, when we move to Flagstaff, this will be a good time to have a new beginning for us,” she remembered. “Like he led me to believe those things. This is what he’s done for many, many years.”
She now sees his actions differently: “Because if he can push me out and I leave, he’s not the bad guy because he didn’t walk away.”
Her friends, meanwhile, were relieved she ended things. “They’re like, ‘OK, we’re here for you, we’re supporting you. And it’s about damn time,’” she shared.
