Rivals Camp Series Dallas: Ranking the quarterbacks
COPPELL, Texas — The Rivals Camp Series stop in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is always loaded with top quarterbacks and that was the case again Sunday. We analyze the top five we saw during the event:
1. PEYTON HOUSTON
Houston lived up to the billing during Sunday’s camp. He’s not the biggest quarterback you’ll find but the traits are there for him to be a great one. The ball jumps out of his hand and he had good accuracy on his passes all camp. Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and LSU are all in the mix for him. He was wearing a Georgia towel while lighting it up in Dallas.
2. MALACHI ZEIGLER
The No. 45 prospect in the 2027 Rivals250 really caught my attention on Sunday. His size jumps out first but his ability to throw the ball is excellent. When his footwork and timing is in rhythm it’s hard to find many quarterbacks that look better than him. Zeigler got better as the camp went on and very well could have been the MVP.
Tennessee and Florida State are two of his most recent offers. The Vols would be an intriguing fit for his skill set but there is a long way to go in his recruitment.
3. JERRY MEYER III
The 2027 four-star anticipates very well and delivers an accurate, catchable ball. He was consistently on target all camp long especially on short and intermediate routes. While he is not an overwhelming threat with his legs, he does move around well in the pocket and throws it well on the run.
He’s got close to 20 scholarship offers from around the country including Florida State, SMU and Ole Miss.
4. BRAYLEN WARREN
Warren has had a good offseason. He’s up to 11 offers now with the most recent ones coming from Cal, Illinois and Iowa. The Omaha native showed us the accuracy on Sunday that helped him win the Elite 11 accuracy challenge in Nashville. He’s got a good frame and throws a tight spiral, too. It’s easy to see why college coaches have been impressed seeing him throw.
Kansas State, Iowa State and Illinois have been most consistent with recruiting him recently. His recruitment will continue to pick up steam through the summer as he camps.
5. QUINN MURPHY
The three-star Baylor commit was one of the top quarterbacks at camp on Sunday. Murphy was a little inconsistent on the day but when he was on, things looked great. He’s got a strong arm and throws an accurate deep ball. I like the way that he throws with anticipation as well. Murphy is a good athlete that can extend plays with his legs or even pick up yards on the ground after scrambles.
