Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put up video-game numbers last season. Now, that success is officially translating to the virtual hardwood.
This marks the first time a Canadian has graced the cover of the popular basketball simulation video game developed by Visual Concepts.
Gilgeous-Alexander, 26, dominated the NBA this past season, winning the league scoring title, the Most Valuable Player award, and Finals MVP. He capped the season by leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first championship.
Former Toronto Raptors star Vince Carter was on the “NBA 2K25” Hall of Fame special edition cover in his signature between-the-legs dunk contest pose. DeMar DeRozan was also featured on the Canadian cover of “NBA 2K18”.
The six-foot-six Gilgeous-Alexander was rated 96 overall (out of 100) when “NBA 2K25” launched in September. Gilgeous-Alexander was later bumped to 98 overall, tying him for the highest rating in the game, along with Denver Nuggets centre Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
