The Saskatchewan Roughriders are making a big move at running back.
After A.J. Ouellette suffered a reported head injury in Thursday’s season-opening win, the Roughriders are set to sign veteran running back Ka’Deem Carey, Justin Dunk of 3DownNation reported Sunday.
Carey, 32, was a surprise cut by the Toronto Argonauts at training camp after helping the team win the Grey Cup last year. He was an East Division all-star in 2024, rushing for 1,060 yards and scoring seven touchdowns while adding 357 receiving yards and one TD.
Carey joined the CFL when he was signed by the Calgary Stampeders in 2018 following three-plus years with the Chicago Bears.
Carey was a West Division all-star with the Stamps in 2021 and ’22 and a league all-star in the latter year.
The Argos signed Carey prior to the ’24 season.
The Roughriders are in Hamilton to face the Tiger-Cats on Saturday.
