In a pop culture crossover no one saw coming, NBA champion Klay Thompson and rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion have just hard-launched their relationship, sending fans worldwide into a frenzy.

The rumor mill has been buzzing since the middle of last week, when Megan Thee Stallion shared a carousel of images on Instagram that subtly featured a shot of basketball star Thompson in the background.

Meg didn’t mention Thompson or tag him in the photos, but eagle-eyed fans noticed the 6’5″ NBA champion almost instantly.

On X, multiple users commented on the possibility, with one asking, “How do y’all just be noticing things?”

Word of their possible summer vacation instantly made the rounds online, prompting the 35-year-old to share a set of images of his own that all but confirmed his romance with the “WAP” rapper.

Thompson’s photos, captioned “Sweet Bells son,” showcased him shooting in the gym, swimming in the ocean, and seemingly kissing a woman who had Meg’s signature curls.

In another image, the five-time NBA all-star could also be seen holding hands with a woman with the same color nails that Meg had in her post.

The reaction to Megan Thee Stallion and Thompson’s romantic debut was swift and chaotic, with fans flocking to social media to share their shock and excitement.

Under Thompson’s Instagram post, users shared playful comments, like one user writing, “My boy a shooter on and off court, huh.”

Another wrote, “Be good to my girl! We’ve been through a lot!”

A third posted, “I wasn’t familiar with your game, my brother.”

Over on X, formerly Twitter, users continued their playful banter, with one sharing, “Ooooouuu look at me, I’m Klay Thompson, I’m 6’5″, I’m rich, I have 4 championship rings, and I get to date Megan Thee Stallion.”

Someone else shared a similar reaction, posting, “Klay has made over $300M in contracts, will be a HOFer, has four rings, is one of the best shooters of all time, and has an awesome boat. And now he got Megan Thee Stallion.”

They continued, “Like dawg, can he RELAX.”

The newly acquired Dallas Mavericks guard is no stranger to high-profile relationships, considering his previous romance with actress Laura Harrier, known for her roles in films like “Spider-Man” and “BlacKkKlansman.”

The pair dated on-and-off from 2018 to early 2020, making several public appearances, including on vacation and at Nobu in Malibu.

Their most talked-about appearance, however, was at the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, which generated a significant amount of media attention.

Throughout their relationship, allegations that Thompson was unfaithful emerged. Despite the rumors, the couple was seen together again before officially calling it quits in 2020.
