The second edition of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League (CCPL) commenced on June 6 and will conclude on June 15. All 18 games of the tournament will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur.
Bilaspur Bulls, Raipur Rhinos, Raigarh Lions, Rajnandgaon Panthers, Surguja Tigers, and Bastar Bisons are the six participating teams. With a single round-robin format, all teams will lock horns with each other once in the league stage. Then, the top four teams will contest in the semifinals, and the winners will clash in the final.
The inaugural edition saw the Rhinos emerge as the champions after they beat the Panthers by eight wickets in the final. Ashutosh Singh (359 runs) and Ashish Chouhan (15 wickets) were the best performers in the tournament.
The prominent player to feature in the league is Punjab Kings’ batter Shashank Singh, who is captaining the Bulls. Other players to watch out for in the tournament are Ajay Jadav Mandal, who is a part of Delhi Capitals, and Shubham Agrawal (former player of Gujarat Lions).
