Days of Our Lives sees Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) and Belle Black (Martha Madison) are divorced. They have been since December of 2024, but things seem to be shifting. And we all know her love for EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) likely will not last.  Let’s talk about Belle and Shawn and whether there’s a reunion in the works based on what we’ve seen lately, what lies ahead, and some other big signs of trouble coming for EJ and Belle.

Belle and Shawn’s Tumultuous History on Days of Our Lives

So, it’s been a rough road for quite a while for Belle and Shawn. She wanted to be there for him after he shot his dad, Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), and went on that drinking bender. But Shawn broke Belle’s heart. He slept with Jada Hunter’s (Elia Cantu) sister, the very troubled Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian). And honestly, Belle’s been no better.

She hopped in bed with EJ quite a while ago, and then she did it again more recently, and she fibbed and told Shawn it was a one-time thing. They both left Salem for a while. They couldn’t work things out and they went their separate ways. I think she ended up in Hong Kong. Anyway, when they both came back to Days of Our Lives, divorce papers soon followed.

Fun fact, if you don’t remember, this isn’t the first time Belle and Shawn married and then divorced. Back in 2016, they divorced, then they reconciled, and they remarried in 2020, and it lasted what, four years. And even though Belle is dating EJ and says she loves him, which really bothers Shawn, that could change.

What Belle is feeling could absolutely change. Meanwhile, Shawn hooked up with Jada based on a misunderstanding between her and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). But now she’s totally single and she’s a potential love match for Shawn.

Signs Pointing Towards a Belle and Shawn Reunion

All that being said, don’t count out a possible reunion for Belle and Shawn because of some signs we’re seeing. I mean, first, obviously, he and Belle have been a long time on again, off again, on again couple ever since they were roaming the halls of Salem High. There’s a lot of history there.

And then Belle told her brother Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) this week when he was poking at her that the ship with Shawn has sailed. But has it really or is it going to drop anchor again? Because it’s clear that Brady and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), her brother and mother and other family members do not want Belle anywhere near EJ.

In recent Days episodes, Belle’s had a few close moments with Shawn as they talked about their dads and other things going on. You know, her dad, John Black (Drake Hogestyn), just made it home from a dangerous ISA mission where he went missing. And he showed up just in time to help Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Shawn break into a meth lab to get the Versix to save Bo’s life.

Tragedy Strikes: Bo’s Miracle and John’s Fate

Things literally explode this week, bringing some very tough times to Belle and Shawn. Right now, Bo’s family is devastated. You know, after Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) called Shawn and told him the priest is coming to read his father last rights, everybody’s crushed. Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) and Hope are at Bo (Peter Reckell)’s side, and they have been.

Obviously, Shawn’s been working to get that drug that could be the reason behind the miraculous recovery that we see Bo get very soon. Now, maybe it’s the drug or maybe it’s divine intervention that saves him because Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) is praying this week to her dearly departed husband Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) for a miracle healing for Bo. So, that could be what saves him.

Days of Our Lives: Bo Wakes Up Soon

Or maybe the miracle that Doug works is that Shawn, John, and Steve get the Versix and rush it to Bo’s doctors to administer and heal him because Bo does wake up soon. And he is back in Salem for the funeral, it looks like, alongside Hope. We’ll see if he makes it for the funeral, but he is back in Salem very soon.

Unfortunately, in the process of getting the drug, the meth lab explodes. Shawn, Steve, and John, who’s being played by a fill-in actor and only seen from the back or kind of obscure angles, soon head into the lab. Dr. Russell is there, too, the inventor of Versix, because he’s eager to get his developmental drug back to his lab after Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) had Kevin steal it.

Unfortunately, the meth lab goes boom, and John gets everybody out except himself. So, the rescue mission to save Bo ends in disaster for John. And Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) has to tell Marlena that John’s badly burned, that it looks like he will die as a result of this heroic act.

The Impact of John’s Death on Bell and Shawn

It’s been known for months that Drake Hogestyn, who plays the legendary John Black signed off on these bittersweet final scenes and they filmed them as he battled pancreatic cancer. And Drake lost his battle in September of 2024. So, just as Shawn feels like he is going to lose his dad and Belle thinks her dad is safe at last, everything twists and Shawn’s dad, Bo, is saved, but Belle’s dad, John, is lost.

So, we should see Shawn comforting Belle, although I’m sure EJ will too. But we also know John would hate to know his precious Belle is involved with EJ. And that may give Belle pause and she may tap the break on things with EJ.

Plus, with John’s funeral bringing lots of family and loved ones back to town, Belle’s sister, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), is also returning. And she will doubtless have some more things to say to Belle about her seeing EJ still.

Days of Our Lives: Belle Ditches EJ?

In fact, it could be losing her dad that has Belle calling things off with EJ or slowing them way down. And so she could turn back to Shawn. I mean, all of Salem is going to be there mourning John’s death and feeling this tremendous loss. And Belle knows the family will not like seeing EJ at her side at the funeral and the family get-togethers. He’s not welcome. So, it could be that Belle’s ex Shawn, is her primary source of comfort and the one who’s escorting her to these events, at least out in public. We’ll see. It’s hard to imagine that Belle would rub EJ in their faces when everybody hates him and everybody’s mourning.

So, we could see some close and tender moments between Belle and Shawn as she’s grieving and he’ll grieve, too. You know, that’s his father-in-law. So, tragedies have a way of shaking up people and bringing them closer together. And that’s what could happen with Belle and Shawn.

Will Tragedy and Miracle Reunite Belle and Shawn?

Of course, we can’t wait to see Bo wake up on Days of Our Lives with his fancy face and his children there. But it’s going to be sad days ahead where John is concerned. Hopefully Shawn can finally rid himself of the guilt he feels for shooting his dad Bo causing that two-year coma. And if you remember, the guilt was what we saw Shawn push Belle away.

Now, you may wonder if she’ll blame Shawn because her father, John, dies getting the drug to save his father, Bo, but I honestly doubt Belle would hold any of that against Shawn. She knows her dad, John, would do anything to help Bo and nothing could have stopped John from risking his life to save Bo. So, Belle cannot and should not blame Shawn and I can’t see her doing it.

And it could be that Belle’s devastation at losing her father pulls her back toward Shawn and tugs her away from EJ. A tragedy and a miracle could put Shawn and Belle back together again. We’ll see.

Just to remind you also something we’ve reported here before. The EJ actor, Dan Feuerriegel, leaked a little video snippet of the 60th anniversary photo shoot and it had EJ and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) with Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) between them and no shots of EJ with Belle. Those photos relate to episodes airing in November of 2025. So maybe by this fall, late in the fall, Shawn gets the girl and Belle’s back with her ex and is out of her EJ era once and for all.
