MANILA, Philippines — Galeries Tower has bid farewell to its pioneering head coach Lerma Giron after two years.
The HighRisers announced Giron’s departure on Friday and expressed nothing but gratitude to the mentor.
“Your time with the Highrisers has been filled with lessons, discipline, and passion that shaped us into a stronger team. We’re grateful for the dedication you poured into every training, every game, and every player who wore the jersey,” the team wrote.
“As we move forward into a new chapter, we carry the values and hustle you instilled in us. This isn’t goodbye, it’s a thank you for being part of our journey.”
Galeries was handled by Giron, part of the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses coaching staff and ex-Adamson head coach, since it joined the PVL in 2023.
The High Risers had losing records in their first four conferences, but hey pulled off an upset against the No.3 Cignal in the qualifying round for an outright quarterfinal berth in the 2024-25 All-Filipino conference.
Galeries made its first playoff appearance despite the 1-10 finish in the preliminary, only to fall short against Akari in a pair of two semifinal matches.
They won the No.2 overall pick in the draft lottery and selected middle blocker Jean Asis from Far Eastern University, showing a lot of promise in the PVL on Tour, despite losing all six of their matches.
Galeries will be handled by a new coach, whom it has yet to name, in the Reinforced Conference in October.
