Victoria Mboko’s magical run isn’t over yet.
The Canadian advanced to the semifinals of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro on Monday in Montreal.
Monday’s triumph comes just two days after Mboko picked up the biggest win of her career by upsetting No. 1-seeded Coco Gauff in straight sets on Saturday.
The 18-year-old from Toronto has surged from outside the top 300 to No. 85 in the world rankings in a breakthrough year. She is projected to rise into the top 50 after Monday’s win.
Mboko will move on to face Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina in the semifinals.
She is now just two wins away from becoming the first Canadian to win the National Bank Open on home soil since Bianca Andreescu won it all in 2019.
