It was hard not to get emotional watching Jeff Fenech and Brock Jarvis embrace in the middle of the ring on Wednesday night after a rollercoaster ride.
The pair have had an on-again, off-again relationship and it was only earlier this year that Jarvis split from his long-time mentor before the biggest fight of his career.
That decision backfired in horrific fashion for Jarvis, who was knocked out by American superstar Keith Thurman and sent back to the drawing board.

But on Wednesday night in front of his home fans in Sydney, the 27-year-old produced a strong performance to defeat Sam Beck after a fourth-round stoppage.
As the referee waved off the fight, Jarvis leapt into the arms of Fenech before praising the Australian legend, as well as the rest of his team, for helping him bounce back.

“I sat down with Jeff and my good mate Tyler Blizzard – Tyler and I went away and did a lot of work on changing a few things,” he said.
“I couldn’t have done it without him or Jeff or all the boys here in my corner supporting me so much.
“It feels unreal to be fighting here at home in front of my family, friends and supporters. I’m very grateful to No Limit for having me on.
“We are back.”
Jarvis (23-2) has immediately re-entered the conversation on the Aussie scene, with potential fights against Nikita Tszyu and Michael Zerafa now on the horizon.

The reunion with Fenech was described as the “stabilising factor” for a fighter who has been erratic at times and had his decision-making called into question.
“This could be the resurrection of Brock Jarvis,” Main Event’s Peter Badel said.
“He’s gone through some tough times, he split from Jeff Fenech and they are now back together and we see the benefits of that reunion.
“He was all at sea against Thurman without him, but that was a stabilising factor.”
Former world champion Liam Paro – who handed Jarvis his first professional loss in October 2022 – was also pleased to see his countryman back in the winner’s circle.

“It was good to see how he went up at middleweight, this is the heaviest he’s been – he carries the power and it was a different approach,” Paro said.
“He was standoffish at the start and then there were glimpses of the old Brock Jarvis. After he hit him with the body shot, that was the confidence he needed to know he could hurt this guy. The old dirty boxing, that’s what got the job done.
“It’s good to see him and Jeff Fenech back together, that’s when I believe he performs at his best. Who better than the legend Jeff Fenech to be giving you instructions.
“It’s a step in the right direction, team and career-wise.”
Paro himself will be back in the ring next month against David Papot as he looks to force his way back into world title discussions, moving up to the welterweight division.
