The Toronto Blue Jays have signed pitcher Ryan Borucki to a minor league deal and assigned him to triple-A, bringing the lefty back to where his career began, the team announced Tuesday.
The 31-year-old will be active on Tuesday as they take on the Indianapolis Indians.
Borucki was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Aug. 18 after being designated for assignment three days earlier. He has played with the Pirates for the last three seasons after starting his career with the Blue Jays.
This season, Borucki has appeared in 35 games with the Pirates. He has a 1-3 record, with a 5.28 ERA in 30.2 innings pitched. Over his 183-game career, Borucki has a 15-12 record with a 4.36 ERA in 252 innings pitched.
He last pitched for Toronto in the 2022 season, making 11 relief appearances for the side before being dealt to the Seattle Mariners ahead of the trade deadline.
Borucki was selected in the 15th round (475th overall) of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Jays and spent parts of his first five seasons in the major leagues in Toronto.
